This new home on flat acreage on the edge of the Yarra Valley was designed by MMAD Architecture and makes the most of the surrounding views.
The design is a long single storey home with the parents and teenage kids areas at opposite ends of the home with the open main living area in the centre of the home.
A tall glazed, north facing wall across the living/dining area that opens onto the covered outdoor zone has views to the Dividing Range and brings ample light into the main living/kitchen area. The home has an abundance of feature materials including compacted rammed earth walls, Red Oak internal floors, external decks and feature ceilings, charred Shou Sugi timber cladding and Colorbond and weathered steel cassette cladding, polished concrete floors, stairs and stepping stones to the garage, laundry and external entry and high quality joinery throughout with striking G-Lux stone benchtops and splashbacks.
The construction process was complex with fine tuning of the design through construction but the finished result is a tribute to the hard work and skill of the architect, builder, trades and suppliers involved in the project.
